The Recreation and Fitness Center offers two pools.  An outdoor leisure pool is open seasonally.  Our 25-yard, four lap lane indoor pool is located on the first floor of the RFC, complete with a vortex and hot tub. An aquatic lift is available for swimmers who need additional assistance accessing the pool.

Group Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lessons run year round for ages 6m- adults. Registration is open and space is limited.

Class Start Dates

  • Monday, September 14th
  • Monday, October 12th
  • Monday, November 2nd

Please note registration for each session closes the Wednesday prior to the session starting.


Days and Times by Age Group

  • M/W: Parent Toddler (Ages 4 months to 2.5) – 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm
  • M/W: Levels 1 & 2 (Ages 3 to 5) - 4:00 pm – 4::30 pm
  • M/W: Levels 3 & 4 (Ages 6 years and Older) – 4:45 pm – 5:15 pm
  • M/W: Adults (Ages 15 and up) – 6:15 pm – 6:45 pm

Swim Lesson Full Path for Children Artwork

Parent-Tot Lessons (4M-2.5 Yrs)

  • Assisted and Unassisted leg motion.
  • Reaching for the wall, back floating, and rolling over to back.

Preschool Lessons (3-5 Yrs)

  • Basic aquatic skills, how to be safe around water.
  • Independent aquatic locomotion skills.
  • Control of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions

School Age Lessons (6-12 Yrs)

  • Introduction to Water Skills. Front and back float with assistance, kicks on front and back with assistance.
  • Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Front & back float unassisted, rolls over from front to back and back to front unassisted.
  • Stroke development. Freestyle arms out of the water, introduced to backstroke arms.
  • Stroke Improvement. Backstroke arms unassisted, introduced to breaststroke arms & breaststroke kick.

Private Swim Lessons

Private swim lessons offer one-on-one instruction for all ages and all abilities.  These lessons are 30 minutes long and can generally be scheduled any day the pool is open.

Partner or semi-private lessons offer one-on-two instruction for swimmers similar in age and swimming ability. It is recommend swimmers be at least 4 years old. These lessons are 30 minutes long and can generally be scheduled any day the pool is open.

Lifeguard Certification Events

Ready to make a splash this semester? Become a certified lifeguard with our American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course. Learn essential lifesaving skills, build confidence, and get job-ready for aquatics positions on campus and beyond. Advanced registration is required. Online coursework is required and must be completed before the first day of class.

The typical course schedule runs:
Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Pool Hours

During normal hours of operation the indoor pool typically closes 1 hour before the RFC.
