Reapplication FAQ

Yes, the date and time you submit your application matters. If you are not reselecting your same booking, you will choose a room on either February 11 for Phase Displaced, February 12 for Phase Four, or February 13 for Phase Five. Your application submission date determines your selection time, so the earlier you apply, the earlier you will select a room. The application will close on February 8 and will not reopen until February 14 for Phase Six.

No, you can only do one or the other, but not both. You can reselect your same booking on February 9 for Phase Two or look for a new booking on February 11 for Phase Displaced or February 12 for Phase Four. We recommend you weigh the risks carefully.

You must match with your requested roommate on Tuesday, February 10, for Phase Three. On your specific selection date, when one matched roommate selects a room, the other matched roommate is automatically assigned. To have the best opportunity to select the desired location, the roommate with the earliest selection date and time should log in and select a room. More information about roommate selection can be found on the Phase Three website.

By 12:00 p.m. noon on February 10, you will be given a selection time based on your Phase One application submission date. You will be able to see this time on the Official Housing Portal. We will email you once your selection time has been posted.

It is for one of three reasons: 1. There are no rooms left to select, 2. You are not eligible to live in that space, or 3. There are no spaces available that will accommodate your roommate grouping. Dropping one or more of your roommates will potentially offer more spaces. Also, you are not able to choose a room if your designated time has not yet arrived.

If you were unable to select a room during the renewal process this week, this does not mean you will not have housing. Here are the next steps for you to complete.

The Phase One application will reopen at 12:00 p.m. noon on Sunday, February 14. Be sure to edit your application to add any roommate requests or living requests, such as Meehan Hall or Pannell Hall. You can add up to five living requests and up to three roommate requests.

Our booking process opens at 12:00 p.m. noon on Sunday, February 14, and will stay open until 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2027. Be sure to add a comment about what type of housing you prefer. For example, state that you prefer a one bedroom apartment. Be as descriptive as possible.

The cancellation request opens on April 1, and we will receive cancellations from now until classes begin, so make sure you keep in touch. Please stay patient with us throughout this process. We will work diligently from now until the end of summer to place students. Typically 25 percent of our total applications cancel each year. We are truly in the early stages of the assignments process.

In addition, residents must be preregistered for fall 2027 classes by May 1, 2027, to confirm their housing booking. If a resident is not registered for fall classes, their application or booking will be voided and transitioned to the next student in the booking process. We have several confirmation steps along the way that students must complete to keep their bookings. Once a booking is voided, it is reassigned to the next student. Booking process positions will be recalculated based on the Phase One application submission date. Be sure to check back often on the Official Housing Portal for your updated position. You will receive an email once you are assigned and you may view your booking and roommates if applicable on the Official Housing Portal.

We know this is a lot of information, but we wanted to give you an update on where things stand. Please contact us at jsuhousing@jsu.edu for more information.
