Kappa Pi - Art Honor Society

The Jacksonville State University Kappa Pi Art Honor Society is a student organization that supports the arts at JSU. Any student at JSU is eligible. The organization undertakes fundraising and educational activities on campus and in the community. It also sponsors fun workshops on photo emulsion, film transfer, bookmaking, screen printing, and hosts a variety of social gatherings.

AIGA (Graphic Design Student Group)

The Jacksonville State University AIGA student group was formed in 2015 to bring together students interested in visual and interactive design to share information and resources. JSU's AIGA student group is affiliated with the Birmingham AIGA professional organization and gives our students the opportunity to network with working professionals. The goal of the student group is to get graphic design students involved in the local design community, create a community of their own and help them build leadership skills that will be valuable as they move into the professional world. For further information please contact the Assistant Professor Chirstian Dunn cdunn6@jsu.edu or 256-782-5626.

The Potter's Guild

The Jacksonville State University Potter's Guild was formed in 1998 to supplement and develop the ceramics program at JSU. The Guild, consisting primarily of ceramics students, conducts several sales each year of their ceramic works. They also sell JSU Potter's Guild T-Shirts. Funds raised by the Guild have been used to purchase equipment for the ceramics studio, including potters wheels, an air compressor, and kiln shelves. Funds have also enabled students to attend regional and national clay conferences, and to help sponsor workshops. For further information please contact the Department Secretary, Ms. Brooklyn Miles, at 256-782-5626.

Photography Club

The Jacksonville State University Photography Club embraces all photographic styles and processes, and exists as a way to share a variety of those interests. Although members are predominantly students, others are welcome to join. The group organizes field activities such as trips to museums, workshops, and group outings to photograph. Members also participate in fundraising projects to help defray costs for travel to regional and national photographic conferences.

The Friends of Visual Arts (FoVA)

Established in 1992, the Friends of Visual Arts (FoVA) of Jacksonville State University supports the Department of Art, and creates interest and involvement in the visual arts in the community. Yearly events sponsored by FoVA and the Department of Art include special receptions for members before exhibitions in Hammond Hall Gallery and a Gala Buffet and Art Auction. The society also organizes trips to museums and art galleries in Birmingham and Atlanta, and presents art workshops for members.

FoVA has raised over $150,000 since its inception, and sponsored artist visits and workshops, provided student scholarships, and substantially helped the department purchase equipment.

Membership in the FoVA is open to all. Please contact the Department Secretary, Ms. Brooklyn Miles, at 256-782-5626 or bmiles@jsu.edu for membership details or further information.
